A couple weeks ago we celebrated my father's 63rd birthday with a fun Golf Themed Par-Tee! My dad is an avid golfer so I've been wanting to put together this theme for him for a long time.
My mom and aunt spent the morning creating delicious dishes for our friends and family to feast on, while I was in charge of the cake & decor. This was my first fondant covered cake, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. Thank goodness for youtube tutorials on working with fondant!
My mom had the genius idea to add these golfing figurines to the cake. They were a gift from a family friend a couple years ago. They normally sit on their own little bench, but they looked so cute and fit perfectly atop my cake!
For the decor I made lots of little party flags to resemble flags you would find on a golf green. I also made some party signs and custom wine labels. It was a really easy way to tie in the theme and dress up the buffet table. Our guests were really impressed with the presentation. Just goes to show that paper and a little imagination can go a long way!
My gift to my dad was this framed picture of him and G playing their first round of golf together. If my dad has his way, I'll have a little pro-golfer on my hands soon!
